Mandy's Eel Garden is a change of pace from the walls — a sloping sand flat where hundreds of brown garden eels rise from their burrows and sway in the current like blades of grass, ducking away as you drift past. It's a patience-and-macro dive: hover quietly and watch yellowhead jawfish hang above their holes, rays glide over the sand, and small critters reveal themselves.

The shallow, current-light profile makes it an easy, relaxed dive that suits all levels, and the open sand is perfect for working on buoyancy and photography.

The trick is to approach low and slow — the eels are shy and disappear into the sand if you rush them, so settle in and let the garden come back to life around you. We'll often pair Mandy's with a nearby reef or wall for a varied two-tank morning, and it's one of the best spots we run for a first try at underwater photography or simply slowing down and watching the small stuff.
