Spooky Channel is one of Roatán's most atmospheric dives — a deep cut through the reef where coral walls rise on either side and the light filters down in shafts. You weave between the walls and through swim-throughs, often sharing the canyon with tarpon hanging in the shadows and big groupers tucked into the overhangs.

It's an easy intermediate dive with no real current, but the close coral walls make good buoyancy important. The dramatic terrain makes it a photographer's favourite.

Because the canyon walls block the swell, Spooky Channel often stays calm and clear even when the open reef is moving — a handy option on breezier days. Sunlight pouring through the gaps in the coral makes for stunning light, and the resident tarpon will frequently let you drift right alongside them. We usually dive it as a relaxed single tank or pair it with a nearby reef.
